WordPress Integration
Connecting Your WordPress Site
Set up the connection between TypenDrop and your WordPress site using application passwords.
To use WordPress features in TypenDrop, you need to connect your site using your WordPress credentials and an application password.
What You Need
- Your WordPress site URL (e.g.,
https://yoursite.com) - Your WordPress username (the one you use to log in to WordPress admin)
- An application password (a special password for API access — not your regular login password)
Creating an Application Password
Application passwords let TypenDrop connect to your site securely without using your main password.
In WordPress 5.6+
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
- Go to Users > Profile (or Users > Your Profile)
- Scroll down to the Application Passwords section
- Enter a name for the password (e.g., "TypenDrop")
- Click Add New Application Password
- Copy the generated password immediately — it won't be shown again
- The password will look something like:
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
If You Don't See Application Passwords
If the Application Passwords section doesn't appear in your profile:
- Make sure you're running WordPress 5.6 or newer
- Check that your site uses HTTPS (application passwords require a secure connection)
- Some security plugins may disable this feature — check your plugin settings
Connecting in TypenDrop
- Click your user avatar in the top-right corner of the dashboard
- Select WordPress Integration
- Enter your details:
- Site URL — Your full WordPress site address (e.g.,
https://yoursite.com) - Username — Your WordPress login username
- Application Password — The password you generated above
- Site URL — Your full WordPress site address (e.g.,
- Click Test Connection to verify everything works
- If successful, click Save to store your connection
Testing the Connection
After entering your credentials, always click Test Connection before saving. This verifies that:
- Your site URL is correct and reachable
- Your username is valid
- Your application password has the right permissions
- The WordPress REST API is accessible
If the test fails, double-check:
- The URL includes
https://(nothttp://unless your site doesn't have SSL) - The username matches exactly (case-sensitive)
- The application password was copied correctly (including spaces)
- Your site's REST API isn't blocked by a security plugin or firewall
Managing Multiple Sites (Max Plan)
If you're on the Max plan, you can connect multiple WordPress sites:
- Open WordPress Integration settings
- Add additional sites with their own URL, username, and application password
- Set a default site for quick access
- Switch between sites when publishing pages or browsing media
Security Notes
- Application passwords only grant API access — they can't be used to log in to your WordPress admin
- You can revoke an application password at any time from your WordPress profile
- TypenDrop stores your credentials securely and never shares them
- We recommend creating a dedicated application password just for TypenDrop
